eComStation

eComStation 1.1 based on OS/2 4.52 has been published on 2003-05-24. Interested customers can choose between the basic system with few standard programs, or the extended version with additional programs. The user interface has been improved and there are new driver added. There is also an optional upgrade for SMP support up to 64 processors and the function as a server, based on OS/2 Warp Server for e-business. NTFS formatted drives can now be used with read-only access. The German version of eComStation 1.1 followed in September 2009.
In December 2004 the operating eComStation 1.2 was released. Now it is possible to use up to 4 GB of RAM. New hardware is better supported and the installer have been updated.
eComStation 2.0 has been finished as final version after a long developing period in May 2010. You can select between the file systems HPFS and JFS for the installation of the operating system. HPFS supports up to 64 GB volume size and 2 GB file size and the modern JFS up to 2 TB volume and file size. The installer program does now much better support the use in virtual machines like Virtual PC.
The support for hardware devices has been extended and improved. Including HDA Audio, USB devices, ACPI and modern multi-core processors like Intel Core Duo, Core2 Duo and AMD 64 X2. The Panorama VESA video driver extends the compatibility to even more graphics cards. WiFi and network cards are now much better covered with included drivers. Network connections with Samba protocol can be now easier configured via the graphical user interface EVFS.
